The Difference between Interior Design and Interior Decoration

There is a subtle difference between Interior Design and Interior Decoration.

Interior Design relates to the full process of designing a room, including the use all of the necessary computer software packages such as AutoCAD to design the space. Interior Decoration relates mainly to the decoration and furnishing of the interior spaceconcerned but does not necessarily require the room layout to be designed in advance.

Interior decorators therefore deal with lighting, colour, texture, paint, purchase of furniture, fixtures and equipment (F, F & E), fabrics, flooring, window treatments and all of the accessories to go into the room. However, they work mainly on adapting and dealing with the surface of a room space provided by the client.
